George Lopez was amazing!!
This was my first time visiting the Rosemont Theater not impressed at all!
Outside appearance is gorgeous but inside the theater, did not match. It would be nice to see them upgrade on new sound equipment and bigger monitors for the guests to actually enjoy the show! There was a "barsu" in front of one of the monitors which made it impossible to see through.
Also, guests were arriving 45 minutes into the show and taking away from the show as they're was a problem with seating not once, not twice but three times all while trying to enjoy the show
Really good but expected more - and better
Most of the bits were funny to very funny, but a lot of it was rehashed bits from previous shows including some of the jokes from his HBO specials, which did not bother my wife and I that much as they are still funny and it is nice to see him tell the jokes live right in front you. Most of the new material was good as well. I do have to say that I was disappointed that he still uses words like "Puto", specifically, how he uses it. It's kind homophobic. Also, his idea that today's generation of children are weaker than previous generations because they are physically hit is a little concerning, especially after the reaction and comments from the fans around me. George is 60 years old now and I thought he would be a little more enlightned and wiser by now.
Less than desired
First item is about DAR advertising itself. While many events list all participants (openers and main star), this even only listed Georg Lopez. Therefore, it was expected that the time slot from 7pm to 9pm would be all George Lopez. It was never advertised that "Ruben" would be opening for George Lopez and in fact George Lopez was only on stage for perhaps 45 min.
Second item would be the comment that George Lopez made in reference to veterans in stating if it were not for the veterans / armed forces, then the secret service would not have shown up at his door. That was offensive and while that I do not fault the venue for as this was outside of their control.
I do feel that this was false advertising as the attendees were led to believe George Lopez would be performing for 2 hours since there was no mention of an opening act. I have been to other events and when all members are advertised then it is expected that each will share in the time slot. This was not the case.
